Sine Bar Calibration

Sine Bar Calibration Services

Sine bars are frequently used as a dimensional measurement tool in quality laboratories to produce a known angle, reliant on the sine rule, for checking devices such as inclinometers and digital protractors.

Generally, these devices utilize a known distance between precision quality cylinders which are set at opposite ends of a bar or plate. With this known distance, a user can set one cylinder on a flat surface such as a leveled granite surface plate, and raise the other cylinder a known distance off the base surface. This is typically achieved using gage blocks.

By creating a hypotenuse with the flat surface parallel to the centers of the two cylinders, the sine rule allows a calculation to be made to determine the angle of the parallel relative to the base surface.

It’s important to ensure the center to center distance between cylinders, the radius of each cylinder, and the parallelism of the flat surface to the radius centers are all known since the sine bar accuracy relies on the precise measurements of these objects.

If you’re looking for an experienced sine bar calibration company, you’ve come to the right place. Cross Precision Measurement has provided expert calibration and outstanding customer service to the industrial and commercial worlds for years. And we can bring that same expertise to you, too.

Calibration and Sine Bar Accuracy

Cross offers NIST traceable sine bar calibration utilizing master standard equipment such as coordinate measuring machines and other inspection devices. Our technicians provide a radius dimension of each cylindrical object, a center to center dimension between those two objects, as well as verification of parallelism of the horizontal surface to the cylinders.

This ensures your angular measurements are determined based on the most accurate dimensions which can all be provided on a certificate of calibration. In addition, with Cross, your quality team can access this information 24/7 using GageSuite®, our online calibration certificate tracking system.

Reliable Calibration Services

The precision measurement group at Cross offers NIST traceable calibration for all types of mechanical and electrical measurement devices, from calipers to inclinometers. Our technicians utilize master standards such as surface plates, angle blocks, and sine bars, among others, to perform a comprehensive calibration including readings at a minimum of four test points.

In addition, our team can provide as found, as left readings on a certificate of calibration which your quality team can access 24/7 using GageSuite®, our online calibration certificate tracking system.

When it comes to calibration services for manufacturers and others within the industrial world, the two most important considerations are accuracy and consistency. At Cross Precision Measurement, we strive to provide the highest degree of accuracy in calibrations every single time. That way, you can trust that your instrumentation or equipment has been precisely calibrated time and time again.
