King Pneumatic Sample Cutter
Model SASD-692

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

CAUTION: Carefully read all instructions before using sample cutter.

WARNING: Cutting blade is very sharp. Keep hands clear of cutting blade at all times.

UNPACKING

When shipping box is unpacked, you should have (1) Model SASD-692 King Pneumatic Sample Cutter, (1) box of 100 Cutting Pads and (1) set of Operating Instructions.

PURPOSE

The Model SASD-692, King Pneumatic Sample Cutter is used to cut multiples of 1, 2, 4, or 8 fabric samples depending on fabric thickness. Samples are then weighed on a King Yield Scale to determine yield in ounces per square yard or grams per square meter. We recommend using the King System of 8 samples, to account for weight variances from selvage to center of fabric, and to provide a dependable yield test every time.

OPERATION

NOTE: To protect the cutter blade, keep a cutting pad between blade and the cutting pad locating plate. Cut a 4" wide strip of fabric across the full width of the fabric. Depending on thickness of fabric, you may fold once, twice, or three times to get 2, 4, or 8 samples after cutting. You will need 8 samples for the standard King System Yield Test.

1. Connect air supply to filter/regulator via 1/4 NPT fitting (cylinder rod will return to retracted position). Set regulator pressure to 100 P.S.I. min. - 150 P.S.I. max.

2. Place cutting pad in locating plate under cutting die.

3. Place fabric, usually 8 layers, over cutting pad making sure fabric is free of wrinkles and remove both hands.

4. Activate cutter with both hands by simultaneously pressing the activating buttons on each end side of the cutter frame. Sample Cutter will not operate if buttons are not pressed simultaneously. Continue pressing control buttons after cutting die has contacted fabric to ensure that all fabric layers are cut. When either or both buttons are released, the cylinder rod will return to it's retracted position.

5. With the cylinder retracted, the samples are automatically ejected from the die. Samples can now be removed from cutter and weighed.

6. Note: Cutting pads may be reused (as long as the blade has not cut completely through the pad) by repositioning them on the cutter base or by turning them over to the opposite side.

REPLACING THE CUTTER BLADE

1. Disconnect air supply to the cutter.
2. Remove the cutting pad from the cutter.
3. Remove the ejection disk and set it aside. (Note: Simply lift ejection disk up and out of blade.
4. Remove the socket head cap screw in the blade clip and remove the blade clip.
5. Hold a cutting pad under the blade to avoid injury. Unscrew and remove the cutter blade from the shaft adapter.
6. With the dull blade removed, place a new blade on top of a cutting pad, and screw the blade completely onto adapter shaft.
7. Reconnect air supply to cutter.
8. Remove cutting pad from locating plate.
9. Be sure hands are clear of cutting die and have a helper activate the press so the cutting die remains at the bottom of its stroke. Very carefully turn die until it is 1/32" above the cutting pad locating plate. (die should never cut into the cutting pad locating plate)
10. Be sure hands are clear of cutting die, release control buttons.
11. Place the blade clip into the groove on the plunger shaft and rotate the cutter blade to the nearest hole for the blade clip to fall into. Replace the socket head cap screw in blade clip. (Note: Do not over-tighten screw)
12. NOTE: Blade should never cut completely through cutting pad.
