OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Unpack the balance as described in the manual.

In KTV balances some of the lesser used units in the standard balance have been replaced by units more useful in the textile industry. In particular:

The "Custom Unit" is available for use on standard KTV balances.
KTV balances are shipped with all units (except custom) turned on.
Users may disable Units which are not of interest as described in the manual.

Note that the sample size required for direct yarn number readout is different for high capacity and low capacity balances:

High Capacity (resolution is 1 milligram or larger):
Yarn Count = 120 yards (cotton), 80 yards (wool or worsted)
Tex Count = 100 meters
Denier = 90 meters
Low Capacity (resolution is less than 1 milligram); i.e. "short sample":
Yarn Counts = 1 yard (cotton), 2/3 yard - 24 inches (wool or worsted)
Tex Count = 1 meter
Denier = 0.9 meter (90 centimeters)
